Phi Theta Kappa - Alpha Rho Nu Chapter
The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. Phi Theta Kappa provides opportunities for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence. The Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society has recognized academic excellence in two-year colleges since 1918. As a member of PTK you have the opportunity to make a difference in your life and the lives of others.
Benefits of membership include: a golden pin, certificate, KVCC transcript notation, the right to wear the golden stole and tassel at graduation, seal on diploma, leadership conferences, service opportunities, eligibility for scholarships, career training and fellowship.
Membership is obtained through invitation from the College. At the beginning of each Fall and Winter semester, invitations are emailed to eligible students giving information about how to join, payment options, induction ceremony, and upcoming meetings. Eligible students are students who are enrolled in a program at KVCC, have completed at least 12 credit hours at KVCC and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
