Moodle 1.9 is ending in December 2013
Hello KVCC Moodle users,
(If you have no dealings with KVCC's Moodle, please ignore this note and accept my apology for the irrelevant message)
Moodle 1.9 is reaching its end of life. Starting with Winter 2014, all KVCC Moodle courses must be migrated to Moodle 2. There are notable differences between Moodle 1.9 and 2. We recommend attending training to learn about the transition.
At the end of December 2013, Moodle 1.9 will no longer receive security updates, at which point Moodle 1.9 installations may become vulnerable to newly discovered security holes which will not be detected nor patched by Moodle developers. Accordingly, KVCC will not offer Moodle 1.9 as an option for courses conducted after December 2013.
Since Fall 2012, 17 instructors have conducted 56 sections on Moodle 2.
For the smoothest transition, we want to encourage as many instructors as are willing to convert early, and avoid the last-minute rush at the end of the Fall 2013 semester.
There are several upcoming workshops on the topic of Moodle 2.
If you already have a Summer or Fall 2013 course on 1.9 which you'd like moved to Moodle 2, just drop us an email at moodlehelp@kvcc.edu with the CRN(s) and we'll move them for you.
If you haven't yet created your Moodle courses for Summer or Fall yet, you can create those courses directly on Moodle 2 using the "My Classes" block in the New My Valley.
If you don't have any courses you're willing to try out on Moodle 2 yet, you can create your own experimental Moodle 2 course here.
