The Ned Foskey Poetry Prize Annual Reading

Thanks goes out to all of the students who submitted work to the 8th annual Ned Foskey Poetry Prize. This year, almost 100 poems were submitted to the contest. There were many excellent poems, which made it difficult for our judge to narrow down the list of winners and honorable mentions. Students whose work did not make the list this year are encouraged to keep writing and submit again.

This year's judge was Scott Bade. He earned his Ph.D. in creative writing at Western Michigan University. In addition to teaching at Kalamazoo College and the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Scott is also the coordinator of the WMU Center for the Humanities. His poems have appeared in Fugue, Shadowgraph, Foothill, and elsewhere. His chapbook, My Favorite Thing about Desire, was the winner of the 2018 Celery City Chapbook Contest.

Congratulations!

Everyone is invited to attend the Ned Foskey Poetry Prize Reading on April 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the Center for New Media, downtown Kalamazoo.

NOTE to prize winners: Authors of the 1-3rd placed poems and honorable mentions are all invited to read their winning poems. It will be a night of celebration and community. Please RSVP to Julie Stotz-Ghosh know if you will be at the reading or simply respond to this email: jstotzghosh@kvcc.edu.
