Alumni+ Art Show 2020 Winners Announced

This year’s virtual Alumni+ Art Show is a great success. A total of 31 alumni artists submitted more than 70 pieces of work for exhibition in the show, which is being hosted virtually due to closure of campus buildings following the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

Artists who shared their work in the first virtual Alumni+ Show contributed to the continued success of this signature event for Kalamazoo Valley Alumni+. Additionally, the Kalamazoo Arts Council has postponed their virtual Art Hop, which was scheduled for Friday June 5, 2020. The Alumni artists’ submissions will be posted to the Arts Council Facebook account (https://www.facebook.com/acgk359/ ) once they have scheduled a new date.

Best of Show: Tracy Klinesteker – Spring Leaf (pastels on sanded board)
Director’s Choice: Kathleen Nolan-Hutchins – Louise (oil on canvas)
First Place: Mervin Kaunda – Santa (2D/3D digital illustration)
Second Place: Meryl Stewart – Blackberry & Lemon Gin Fizz (video production)
Third Place: Dori Smith – Rabbitude (watercolor/gouache)
Honorable Mention: Em Hillsburg – Resolute in the Storm (Photoshop digital illustration)
Honorable Mention: Yeqiu Zheng – Stones (digital photograph)
Honorable Mention: Nancy Schemanski – Kohiki Tea Set (ceramics)

Images of work submitted for the 2020 Alumni+ Art Show will remain accessible at the above web links. Participation Certificates will be mailed to each submitting artist. At a future date, Alumni+ and Kalamazoo Valley Community College hopes to do a meet and greet with all submitting artists and present each of you with a participation gift.
