Online Intro to American Sign Language Courses Begin in July

Kalamazoo Valley is offering two online introductory American Sign Language courses that begin in July. The course designed specifically for the virtual learner using Google Classroom. There will be a weekly live virtual interactive class, uploaded videos and practice quizzes. The course will familiarize students with commonly used signs and fingerspelling, basic sign production and comprehension will be practiced, and aspects of Deaf culture will be included.

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to have a basic knowledge of native or fluent signers, reproduce the basic hand shapes and facial expressions, and have a basic knowledge of fingerspelling and everyday signs.

Participants must be willing to interact and participate in a group.

Two separate offerings:
Fridays, July 17-Sept. 4, 6-7:30 p.m. Saturdays, July 18-Sept. 5, 2-3:30 p.m.
