A 9/11 Message from Kalamazoo Valley's Veteran Services Coordinator
Good Day Everyone,
At about 8:46 a.m. on September 11, 2001 American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the north face of the north tower of the World Trade Center. This was the beginning of a series of orchestrated attacks on our country that none of us old enough to remember will ever forget. Kalamazoo Valley's veteran community, those of you who have served since and those of you who had a loved one serve, are especially being remembered by all of us today at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Whether you were in Iraq, Afghanistan, neither, or both, you answered the call to serve your nation in a time of crisis. Those of you who had a parent, spouse, or sibling in uniform bore the burden of service as well. We are proud of each and every one of you.
9/11 changed the lives of every person who was alive that day, and every person born since. It especially affected us in the veteran community. Thank you for your service. Thank you for the service of your loved ones. All of us working here at Kalamazoo Valley recognize you and yours. It goes without saying we will never forget this day. We will never forget each other. We will never shy away from remembering and sharing our stories.
Charles Heidelberg
