LEED Construction Project
KVCC is seeking gold LEED status for the new construction on the Texas Township campus. In addition, many sustainable/green technologies have been incorporated in the newly renovated history gallery at the museum.
Why LEED construction projects? LEED certification is the recognized standard for measuring building sustainability. Achieving LEED certification demonstrates that a building project is truly "green". The LEED green building rating system is designed to promote design and construction practices that increase profitability while reducing the negative environmental impacts of buildings and improving occupant health and well-being.
LEED-certified buildings are designed to:
- Lower operating costs and increase asset value
- Reduce waste sent to landfills
- Conserve energy and water
- Be healthier and safer for occupants
- Reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions
- Qualify for tax rebates, zoning allowances and other incentives in hundreds of cities
- Demonstrate an owner's commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility
