Michigan Transfer Agreement
The Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) is designed to facilitate the transfer of general education requirements from one institution to another. Students may complete the MTA as part of an associate degree or as a stand-alone package. Completion of the MTA does not mean a Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC) student has completed the requirements for a specific Kalamazoo Valley associate degree.
Click here for a list of the approved KVCC courses that have been identified as meeting the minimum requirements of the MTA. To fulfill the MTA requirements students must successfully complete at a minimum 30 credits as delineated in each category, with at least a grade of 2.0 in each course. Students with questions about which courses to take should consult a counselor or advisor to develop their degree plan and for registration advice.
If a student transfers to Kalamazoo Valley, at least one college level credit-bearing course must be successfully completed at Kalamazoo Valley to meet residency requirements of the MTA. To request an audit, students should submit a Michigan Transfer Agreement Audit Request using the Graduation Information/Petition to Graduate link in My Valley. "MTA Satisfied" will be posted to a student's transcript only when the minimum MTA requirements have been met and as requested.
