Actions You must take Direct Loan Master Promissory Note Entrance Loan Counseling KVCC Pre-Loan Certification Form MyValley

To finalize your request for a Direct Loan, you must access your KVCC VIP account to accept, reduce, or decline your student loan offer.  You will also need to sign the Pre-Loan Certification form. Future loan changes can be made by completing the KVCC Loan Request/Adjustment form available on our website or in the Financial Aid Office.

New or first-time loan borrowers at KVCC must complete Entrance Loan Counseling.  Loan Counseling is completed by going to www.kvcc.edu/admissions/finaid/loans/dlloancounseling.html, then Loan Counseling.  Once you have successfully completed loan counseling, we will be notified by the next business day.  Delays in completing Entrance Loan Counseling will delay the processing of your loan(s).

A new Master Promissory Note (MPN) will need to be completed and signed by all students who have not previously borrowed under the Direct Loan Program.  To complete your Master Promissory Note, go to www.studentloans.gov, then Sign Master Promissory Note for Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan.  Your Federal Student Aid PIN is required to sign your MPN.

If you have completed all of the above steps prior to the initial tuition due date, your loan will be authorized to your student account and applied to your tuition & fee charges. If your authorized loan does not cover your full tuition/fees charges, your remaining balance should be paid immediately to prevent your classes from being dropped.

If you have completed all of the above steps, and your financial aid award exceeds your tuition and fee charges, an authorization for books and supplies will be available at the KVCC Bookstore. (You no longer need to stop in the Financial Aid Office to request a book voucher).  If your financial aid award exceeds your tuition and fee charges, you will be entitled to a book and supply authorization up to the maximum of $600, or the balance of your award, whichever is less. The earliest date you can access your authorization is the week before each semester start date.  Any remaining funds will be included in your credit balance/refund proceeds.    Please refer to the appropriate semester-specific class schedule for exact date. Please note:  if you are a first-time student, first-time borrower, your loan proceeds will not disburse to your account until after 30 days have elapsed from the beginning of your loan period.  This means your loan proceeds will not be available to you until two weeks after the initial refunding start date.

You will receive your loan proceeds with any other financial aid credit balance/refund electronically.
