First-Time Loan Borrowers

First-Time Loan Borrowers at KVCC

First-time loan borrowers at KVCC will not be offered a loan on their initial financial aid award letter. Students who need a student loan to pay for education-related costs, must complete Financial Awareness Counseling. Once signed in, select "Complete Counseling". On the next page select "Financial Awareness Counseling". Once completed, you will need to print confirmation. You will need to attach the confirmation to a KVCC KVCC Financial Aid Adjustment Form to be awarded loans.

To finalize your request for a Direct Loan, you must access your MyValley account to accept, reduce, or decline your student loan offer. You will also need to sign the Pre-Loan Certification Form. Future loan changes can be made by completing the KVCC Financial Aid Adjustment Form available on our website or in the Financial Aid Office.

New loan borrowers at KVCC must complete Entrance Loan Counseling. You must select KVCC as your school of choice. Once you have successfully completed loan counseling, we will be notified by the next business day.

A new Master Promissory Note (MPN) will need to be completed and signed by all students who have not previously borrowed under the Direct Loan Program. To complete your Master Promissory Note, go to www.studentloans.gov, then Sign Master Promissory Note for Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan.

Please note: if you are a first-time loan borrower, your loan proceeds will not disburse to your account until after 30 days have elapsed from the beginning of your loan period. This means your loan proceeds will not be available to you until two weeks after the initial refunding start date.
