Kalamazoo Valley Honors Program
The Honors Program is a small community of highly motivated students who want the most from their college experience at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. The Program is designed to provide students with a meaningful experience at KVCC through one-on-one mentorship from faculty, and honors courses, events and scholastic opportunities designed to prepare graduates to transfer to any college or university of their choosing. Successful applicants are expected to graduate from KVCC before they transfer.
In 1986 the KVCC Honors Program was created by President Marilyn Schlack and the KVCC Board of Trustees with the realization that a growing number of students of high academic standing were attending the college. The Honors Program emphasizes studies that deepen and broaden student knowledge in and across disciplines.
The Honors Program provides qualified and motivated students with an enriched academic environment through high-impact educational practices and experiential learning in a community of scholarly-minded peers. Honors class sections facilitate additional academic challenge and lively interaction with peers and faculty members in small classes where inspired faculty lead dedicated scholars on an engaging educational journey.
