Sustainable Horticulture Program

Sustainable Horticulture

Kalamazoo Valley Community College is developing an exciting new set of programs that will train the next generation of workers in sustainable greenhouse and landscape management.

We will draw on existing programs in sciences, agri-foods, and trades, gather input from green industry and community partners, and build upon the interdisciplinary approach of the health-food-sustainability cluster of programs housed at the Bronson Healthy Living Campus.

The new program area will include non-credit short courses for current professionals, two new certificates in Greenhouse Management or Landscape Management and an Associate's degree program in Sustainable Horticulture. Classes begin during the Winter 2023 semester. Courses will use Kalamazoo Valley's urban and suburban campuses as lab space, and the program will include internship, industry certification, and work opportunities.

We are excited to build and launch this program at a time of great change in our world and the green industry. Landscape and agriculture jobs are safe, essential, and critical to the future.
