Corequisites
What Are Corequisites?
Courses in our Accelerated Matriculation Program (AMP) are offered as corequisites only. These courses must be taken together in the same semester. Two types of corequisite pairs are available: compressed and concurrent.
- Both the English and Mathematics departments offer concurrent corequisites, in which students will attend both courses for the whole semester. Concurrent corequisites are taught by the same instructor and are typically offered back-to-back.
- The Mathematics department also offers compressed corequisites that are shorter, seven-week classes in which students will complete the first course in the pair during the first half of the semester and then continue in the second course for the remainder of the semester. Compressed corequisites are taught by the same instructor and are scheduled on the same day(s) and time(s) for the entire semester.
How do I know what sections to take?
If you are unsure about what classes to take, consult with a counselor or advisor in Student Success Services. Students can retake the college’s placement tests at no charge in the Testing Center.
Choose your semester from the corequisites menu to see a list of paired sections for each set of courses.
Registration, Drops, and Withdrawals
Specific sections of these courses (identified by a 5-digit CRN) are paired together and students must register for both of them at the same time. If both CRNs of the corequisite pair are not selected at registration, students will encounter an error message. If students choose to drop or withdraw from one of these sections, they must do so from both. Students should consult with their instructor before withdrawing from a class. More information about refunds and withdrawals may be found here.
