Updates to Michigan Achievement Scholarship, Community College Guarantee
The governor recently signed the state's fiscal year 2025 budget. The new budget makes changes to the Michigan Achievement Scholarship, including the creation of the Community College Guarantee. The Guarantee gives every high school graduate from the classes of 2023 and 2024 the opportunity to earn a tuition-free associate degree or skills certificate from an in-district community college. Beginning fall 2024, students from the class of 2023 and beyond are eligible for the Community College Guarantee, which includes:
A scholarship that covers the full cost of in-district tuition, contact hours, and mandatory fees for full-time students.
An additional $1,000 living expenses award for students who are eligible for a federal Pell Grant.
Class of 2023 spring graduates must enroll by fall semester 2024; class of 2024 spring graduates must enroll by fall semester 2025.
We here at the Foundation are working harder than ever to raise scholarship funds for our incoming students. Although many of them may be receiving assistance with their tuition bills, most will still need additional support to help them with the financial roadblocks that arise as they are attending school full-time instead of working full-time. The Community College Guarantee might get them through the college doors to register for classes, but the KVCC Foundation will be there with the financial assistance they need to complete their programs.
Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon-August 24 Pink Floyd's progressive eighth album is put to stunning visuals that will send you to the moon. The album remained on Billboard charts for an amazing 741 weeks, from 1973 until 1988, longer than any other record in history. The music you know is taken to a new level when combined with stunningly crisp computer graphics and shown on the planetarium's dome. Purchase tickets here
