Valley Celebrates Last Home Basketball Game on Feb. 11

Live DJ, giveaways & Big Brothers Big Sisters new program kickoff planned

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Calling all kids in grades K-12 and the people who love mentoring them! Join Kalamazoo Valley Community College for the fun-filled Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Michigan (BBBS) Day at the college's FREE home basketball games on Saturday, Feb. 11, to celebrate its winning season. Enjoy popcorn and a live DJ!

This event is open to ALL youth, both in and outside the BBBS program. Adults from throughout the community, Kalamazoo Valley students and alumni are also encouraged to come out to support the Cougars in their last home game of the 2022-2023 season.

The women play at 1 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m. in the main gym at the Texas Township Campus. The men are currently No. 1 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference with a record of 7-0 (an overall record of 19-3). The women are No. 2 in the Western Conference with a record of 6-1 (an overall record of 12-7).

"We are excited to welcome Big Brothers Big Sisters and all of our fans to the exciting final home game of the season," Kalamazoo Valley Athletic Director Russ Panico said.

At the games, Big Brothers Big Sisters will be kicking off Sports Buddies, its newest mentoring program. Through the program, youth ages six through 16 and their mentors will attend open-gym and local spectator sporting events and more one to two times per month, typically on Saturdays.
