Kalamazoo Valley Community College Presents: The Art in Animation Princess Ball, an Olivia Grace & Company Event
Area children and their families are invited to join the princesses and heroines from Olivia Grace & Company (OG&C) for an enchanting event on April 1 in the Commons Theater at Kalamazoo Valley Community College's Texas Township Campus.
OG&C is owned by Olivia Haines-Robey, who manages her business from her home and serves as a faculty member at Grand Rapids Civic Theatre where she teaches the art of character performing.
All proceeds from this event will go directly to OG&C's "magic fund" - in place to sponsor events and experiences for children and families who need magic the most. The company has donated more than $100,000 in services to families and organizations, various local non-profits, small businesses, and community events.
The Kalamazoo Valley event is offered at three different times on April 1 and includes meet-and-greet and photo opportunities with more than 10 characters, enchanting performances, dancing and lots of magic. Nearly half of the performers are women of color. In addition to allowing participants to imagine themselves as performing characters, the event will encourage students to explore careers in animation, Coates said.
Free children's tickets are available for families in need - one free ticket per family with paid adult ticket. Contact Kalamazoo Valley Dean of Applied Arts and Media Technologies Dr. Deborah Coates, dcoates@kvcc.edu or 269.488.4509 for details.
