Dr. Jennifer Wimbish to Visit Kalamazoo Valley on Oct. 10
Dr. Jennifer Wimbish, former Provost and Chief Academic Officer, at Lansing Community College, will visit the Marilyn J. Schlack Culinary and Allied Health Building on Tuesday, Oct. 10 to talk about the second edition of her book "Leadership Wisdom for All Generations." The book talk will start at 5:30 p.m. in Room 107. Afterwards, there will be books for sale and Dr. Wimbish will be available to sign books.
Dr. Wimbish, President Emeritus of Cedar Valley College (CVC) of the Dallas System, was the first African American President of the College. Her leadership journey included serving as Provost and Chief Academic Officer, and Dean of Student Services at Lansing Community College. Additionally, she received a Ph.D. from Michigan State University. In her recently released book, Wimbish, through a faith-based worldview, takes readers on an autobiographical journey through the phases of her life, from her childhood in the segregated South, to her presidency at a diverse community college, and into retirement.
Lessons presented are gleaned from Wimbish, along with great leaders -- wise authentic leaders that have transformed organizations and communities. Wimbish says that leadership lessons learned in Michigan served as a foundation for her growth in many areas of her life. The second edition, revised within recent times, including the COVID pandemic, presents a new framework for leadership direction.
According to Dr. Wimbish, the book is linked to her continuing commitment to intergenerational learning, and to serving marginalized populations. She believes strongly that each generation must leave a legacy that includes the learning of wise individuals, thus preparing tomorrow's world leaders.
