Enjoy Free Film, Lunch at Oct. 11 'Crip Camp' Documentary Event
Learn about disability justice through a screening of the movie "Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution" on Wednesday, Oct. 11 from noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Texas Township Campus in Rooms 4370/4380. The documentary tells the story of a groundbreaking teen summer camp that inspired some of its alumni to join the disability rights movement.
Camp Jened was a hippie-run summer camp where people with disabilities were treated as equal members of a community, empowered to make their own decisions and experienced for the first time the fullness of themselves as human beings. The screening will be followed by a discussion. The film is rated "R," and includes talk of sex.
