Support Basketball Teams at Feb. 27 Final Home Game

Cheer on the Cougars basketball teams as they conclude their regular conference season schedule next Tuesday, Feb. 27 at home versus Glen Oaks Community College, with the women playing at 5:30 p.m. and the men at 7:30 p.m.

The game is free in the main gym at Kalamazoo Valley Community College's Texas Township Campus.

Both Cougar basketball teams go into next week having experienced the smell of victory from their home conference games this week, on Feb. 21, against Plymouth, Indiana-based Marian University's Ancilla College. The women's final score was 63-55 and the men's final score was 100-69.

Congratulations to the men for earning the Western Conference Champion accolade with an 11-0 record and 22-5 overall. After the final conference game next week, the men will then go on to play for the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Championship. It will be hosted by the Northern Conference Champion, likely at Bay College in Escanaba on March 1 and 2.

The men will first play the Eastern Conference Champion. If they prevail in that game, they will go on to play the North Champion for the overall MCCAA Champion. In addition, the men have qualified for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA ) Region 12 District B Tournament, being hosted at Mott Community College on March 8 and 10.

For the women, the 2023-24 season was a rebuilding year with eight out 12 players being freshmen. They go into their final conference game next week with a record of 3-8 and an overall record of 7-16. At this point, there is a possibility that they could finish fifth in the conference, thus earning a spot in the NJCAA Region 12 District Tournament. This will not be for sure until after the final conference game next Tuesday.
