Baseball, Softball Teams Finish Second and Fifth Place this Season
Let's thank the Cougars baseball and softball teams for their hard work this season that ended over the weekend!
The men placed second and the women fifth in the Western Conference of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association.
The baseball team ended with a league record of 17 - 8 and an overall record of 31 - 14 under Head Coach Steve Bennecke, qualifying them for the NJCAA Region 12 Division II Tournament.
The first round of the tournament will take place on May 9 - 10, if needed, at Bryant & Stratton College in Solon, Ohio. Game times will be at 1 and 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, and at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 10, if needed.
Should they prevail at Bryant & Stratton, they will move on to the final rounds of the tournament hosted by Jackson College on May 16 - 18.
The softball team finished with a league record of 11 - 19 and an overall record of 15 - 25 under Lisa Karau, in her first year as head coach. The team will not be moving on to post-season tournament play.
Karau will now focus on completing her roster for the 2024-25 year and plan for additional team-building and player development in the coming year.
