STEAM Ahead Back to School

A STEAM Ahead Back to School event is set for Aug. 24 at the Children's Nature Playscape in Bronson Park. The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon in downtown Kalamazoo. Area children are invited to explore the CNP with their families and caregivers during a free science-themed event. There will be science activities to investigating nature chemistry, geology, and biology along with creating art and exploring nature. It is intended to inspire curiosity and spark imaginations of kids and parents to the wonders of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Education, Art, and Math) fields.

The CNP is designed to encourage families to play in nature. Science faculty from Kalamazoo Valley Community College and staff members from the Kalamazoo Valley Museum and KRESA will be leading the activities. The CNP was opened by a nonprofit organization. College faculty members have worked to help build a unique natural playground for children 2-7 years old in Kalamazoo.
