Kalsec Food for Thought Culinary Contest Returns on Oct. 24

Culinary students are invited to compete in the Kalsec Food For Thought Culinary Contest on October 24. Applicants who qualify to participate in the Food for Thought contest will be paired with a research chef or food scientist from Kalsec to create an appetizer to be sampled by guests at the event. Submit your recipe and application by Sept. 15 to to qualify for a $50 prize simply for entering.

Round One Through September 15:

Receive $50 for submitting a thoughtfully conceived and accepted application!

Round Two: Up to five finalists will be chosen by September 23.

Criteria: Based on scorecard: creativity, description of preparation, unique

A. Tour and Pairing w/ Kalsec Food Scientists: October 4 at 2 p.m.

B. Kitchen Aid Mixer for each of up to five finalists ($350.00 value each)

Round Three Main Event: October 24, 2024 Competition at the Marilyn J. Schlack Culinary and Allied Health Building

THIRD PLACE: $500 Scholarship (or stipend for graduating students)

SECOND PLACE: $700 Scholarship (or stipend for graduating students)

GRAND PRIZE: $1,400 Scholarship (or stipend for graduating students)
