Grants and Funding Options
Assisting local companies with the identification of available grant funding sources to meet training needs is a high priority at the Kalamazoo Valley Groves Center. It is our goal to keep businesses informed of state and local funding opportunities.
Michigan New Jobs Training Program (MNJTP)
Designed as an economic development tool, the Michigan New Jobs Training Program allows community colleges to provide free training for employers that are creating new jobs and/or expanding operations in Michigan. The training for the newly hired workers is paid by capturing the state income tax associated with the new employees' wages.
This is a local program—individual community colleges work directly with employers and local economic development to support job creation. There are no restrictions by industry or employer size. Companies creating new jobs in Michigan may qualify for financial assistance to provide customized training for their new employees.
Going PRO Talent Fund (GPTF)
The Going PRO Talent Fund Program provides competitive awards for employer responsive training that enhances talent, productivity and employment retention, while increasing the quality of competitiveness of Michigan's businesses. These training dollars help to ensure that Michigan's employers have access to the talent they need to compete and grow; and individuals have the skills they need for in-demand jobs.
