Program Information
The nursing program at KVCC prepares the student for a career in practical nursing. Employment opportunities include acute care hospitals, long-term acute care and extended care facilities, clinics, offices, home health and ambulatory care.
Graduates may be eligible to continue to pursue a license as a Registered Nurse with the LPN to RN program track. The nursing department and academic counselors will assist students with degree advancement pathways.
The program includes one semester of prerequisite course work and three semesters of practical nursing course work for the full-time generic student. Financial aid, scholarships, tutoring, and counseling services are available to assist students.
Upon successful completion of all nursing course work the graduate will receive a Certificate in Practical Nursing and will be eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Exam for the Practical Nurse (NCLEX-PN).
Application Process
Practical Nursing CERT Program applications for FALL 2025 start will be accepted online only April 1-15, 2025 at https://p2.kvcc.edu/utilities/health_careers/.

You may apply for acceptance into the program if you have completed or are currently enrolled in your last pre-requisite(s). Pre-requisites for fall admission must be completed by the end of the winter semester of the current year. Pre-requisites for winter admission must be completed by the first half of the fall semester of the current year.
