The Medical First Responder (MFR) is the first to respond in an emergency situation. The MFR course is a study of the topics and skills necessary to make life saving interventions and stabilize patients in a pre-hospital environment while awaiting the arrival of more advanced care. Medical First Responder certification and licensure is entry level for EMS providers and required for those who are cross-trained into public safety sectors such as Fire and Law Enforcement. Students who successfully complete this course are eligible for the National Registry of EMTs Certification exam and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Medical First Responder licensure.

*Please note this program requires a special application packet. Please see a health careers pathway advisor or counselor for more information and visit the Emergency Medical Services program page on our website for program information, FAQs, accreditation details, and more.
