Why Kalamazoo Valley

With four campuses in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Kalamazoo Valley offers associate degrees in more than 60 areas of study and certificate programs in 50 more. With more than 70 different transfer programs to choose from – in areas such as engineering, business, computer science, culinary and nursing – students have the opportunity to earn credits that are fully transferable to a four-year college or university while at Kalamazoo Valley, for a fraction of the cost of attending a four-year college or university.

Deadline to apply and submit all paperwork:

Fall
New Visa Approvals: July 1
Transfer Students: August 1

Winter
New Visa Approvals: November 1
Transfer Students: December 1

Summer
New Visa Approvals are not accepted for the summer semesters
Transfer Students ONLY: April 1

If your application AND paperwork have not been submitted by the dates above, you will need to be deferred to the next semester.

Terminated Students

Kalamazoo Valley will consider the admittance of students with a Terminated SEVIS record on a case-by-case basis.

In order to be considered for admission on Terminated status, prospective students must submit all standard admissions documents for review AND complete the following steps.

  1. Complete and submit the Terminated Admission Request form
  2. Provide a written statement explaining the circumstances that led to your termination. The statement should include:
    • The reason for your termination
    • The steps you have taken to address the situation
    • The steps you have taken and/or plan to take to prepare yourself for success moving forward
    • Your academic goals and how you believe Kalamazoo Valley can assist with reaching them
    • The Terminated Admission Request Form linked here can assist you in preparing your statement
  3. Participate in an interview (in-person or via Zoom) with the Director of Recruitment & Outreach

Please note that completing the steps outlined above does not guarantee admittance to Kalamazoo Valley. A thorough review of your application materials will be conducted by our office, including, but not limited to, contacting your previous institution to verify the circumstances surrounding your termination.

Furthermore, admission to Kalamazoo Valley does not guarantee reinstatement of Active F-1 status. If admitted to Kalamazoo Valley, you must still complete the standard reinstatement application process as adjudicated by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

1 Easy Admission

We have an open admission policy. We do not require SAT or ACT, however, we will accept these standardized tests. No application fee!

2 Lower Tuition Cost

The tuition at Kalamazoo Valley is significantly less than a university. You will save $40,000 or more by beginning your studies here.

Classes at Kalamazoo Valley average one instructor to 23 students.

Community colleges emphasize teaching rather than research. Students will be able to talk with their professors and get the support that they need.

We have transfer pathways to the top U.S. universities.

6 Campus Life

Students can join more than 20 different clubs and organizations or participate in one of five intercollegiate sports teams, including men’s and women’s basketball, women’s volleyball, baseball, and softball.
